Talk:Possible NAIS IT Data Collection
From School Computing
NAIS will be interested in this grass roots effort and plans to convene a meeting of tech professionals at some point in 2006 to advance the project.

Is important to clearly define data such that they are directly comparable among schools. For example, technology staff are often hidden within various job descriptions, what expenditures are "technology" (consumables?, telecommunications?, publications? etc.). With technology becoming so embedded in every aspect of the operation of a school, is difficult to get consistent information that can be compared in a meaningful way. -Tom
Update: NAIS is moving on with this and I will be one of the participants. Also, as to data collection, there is a current 1-to-1 survey that is targeted mostly towards public schools BUT they are anxious to have private school participation. They will extend their deadline for us, because the NAIS group is meeting on March 1 (some in person, some via conference call.) Here is the site for more information on the survey http://www.ads2006.org/main/index.php - I have interviewed Tom Greaves and he has some great ideas for the survey collection and for presenting the results.
