We use Panasonic security cameras (40+ PoE). It is not a retail store product so the price is a higher than consumer cameras. Our IT department is able to install and manage all the cameras using our Video Insight server. (Google Panasonic WV-NF284 for more information about the camera.) I have a few wireless Axis cameras that will be installed in the parking lots.
I use IQEye cameras with HP Procurve PoE switches. The cameras connect to a Milestone database (Milestone Systems Software) to record and archive video. The IQEye solution is more expensive than other IP cameras, but they are scriptable and come with day/night capabilities. Currently I am using 5 mega pixel lenses and am able to capture vehicle license plates entering campus from about 300 feet away.
