Job Description

Major Gifts

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit major gift prospects from the US community of alumni and friends.
  • Prepare proposals and present projects to prospects; work with volunteers who will be meeting with them.
  • Complete and process gifts as they are realized.
  • Assist with the development of capital campaign materials, including photos, copy and design.
  • Develop and maintain personal contact with prospects to encourage interest in major gift options and to provide information.
  • Consult with the Director of Annual Giving and Director of Alumni Relations on matters related to Reunion giving.
  • Write articles for University School publications highlighting major gift donors.
  • Provide staff support to the Development Steering Committee, and to major gift solicitors.
  • Keep track of major gift prospects and gifts in Raiser's Edge.
  • File "call reports" and maintain relationship information on the Raiser's Edge prospect management system.

Planned Giving

  • Identify, cultivate and solicit planned giving prospects from the University School community of alumni and friends
  • Develop and implement marketing programs to promote planned gifts to University School through direct mail, internet and personal contacts. Prepare and distribute brochures, printed and web materials outlining methods of deferred giving.
  • Prepare proposals and present projects to prospects or work with volunteers who will be meeting with them.
  • Complete and process gifts as they are realized.
  • Respond to inquiries arising from planned giving promotional materials.
  • Develop and maintain personal contact with prospects to encourage interest in major and planned giving options and to provide information.
  • Stay up to date on changes in the laws affecting planned giving.
  • Coordinate activities with prospect's attorney and/or financial advisers as needed to determine the most appropriate method of deferred giving and ensure necessary arrangements for collection of gifts.
  • Coordinate deferred giving with school administration to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and school investment policies.
  • Ensure that Planned Giving policies and procedures manual is up to date.
  • Coordinate with Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving to promote and explain planned giving and its vehicles.
  • Plan seminars and events for planned giving donors and prospective donors.
  • Write articles for US publications highlighting donors and the planned giving program.
  • Provide staff support to the Development Steering Committee, Planned Giving Committee, a subcommittee of the Development Steering Committee of the Board of Trustees and to planned giving solicitors.
  • Consult with Director of Annual Giving and Director of Alumni Relations on matters related to Reunion giving.
  • File "call reports" and maintain relationship information on the Raiser's Edge prospect management system.
  • Use The Raiser's Edge system to keep track of planned giving prospects and gifts.
