Job Description

Title(s): Database Administrator, Database Manager, DBA


  • Maintain the integrity of the databases by ensuring the databases are regularly monitored, data purity and errors are corrected.
  • Maintain the structure of attributes, code tables, business rules, and all other setup functions.
  • Maintain data integrity by establishing regular system checks in place, such as looking for records without addressee/salutations.
  • Develop and implement data entry policies and procedures.
  • Proactively manage the system user accounts and security, and serve as the primary point of contact.
  • Create queries, Exports, Imports and mailing lists.
  • Create custom reports using Crystal Reports and Native SQL reports.
  • Produce Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly routine maintenance procedures.
  • Perform routine database clean-up such as Code Review, pulling and researching bad addresses, and tables.
  • Data Archival.
  • Provide database support by acting as a liaison with the vendors and staff.
  • Plan and maintain backup and recovery of database information.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff using the databases.
  • Regularly assess staff training needs, develop and provide, on a regular basis, training programs, which provide staff with techniques to = efficiently use the software.
  • Write documentation.
  • Design, implementation and maintenance of MS SQL Server
  • MS SQL Performance and Tuning
  • Perform routine updates both on the Database engines and their Client workstations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5+ years experience supporting MS SQL Server database in an Educational environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relational database theory and management systems.
  • MS SQL Server Certification.
  • Experience with Independent School non-profit systems (Blackbaud Financial Edge, Educational Edge and Raiser Edge).
  • Point of Sale systems.
  • Fundamental understanding of Networking Concepts (protocols, Physical connectivity,etc.).
  • MS SQL server performance tuning.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Team oriented to instruct others on the use of the databases clearly and effectively.
  • Understanding of gift accounting, Web based data collection, and data importing/exporting.
  • Proficiency in Crystal Reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.=20
  • Effective organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Troubleshooting and Debugging Skills.
  • LDAP experience
  • Experience with MAPI Applications, Horizon POS and Notifylink
