Someone who lives way up north where the air gets cold will die without shelter and something warm like a fire, so that doesn't work. So they learn to build houses, maybe out of wood or animal skin, and that works.

If you live in the desert and need to travel long distances a horse or donkey will die of thirst, which doesn't work. Camels can travel very far without a drink, so that works.

Adaptation means different things in different areas, but people are pretty good at it.
